China Knowledge reports Huawei Technologies Co Ltd, a major telecom equipment vendor in China, announced on Friday that it has won a contract from Finland’s TeliaSonera AB to deploy Europe’s first GSM/UMTS converged network based on Software Defined Radio (SDR) technology.
Under the contract, Huawei will deploy its SingleRAN solution which will allow TeliaSonera to simultaneously provide its subscribers in Finland with high-quality GSM and UMTS services using the same 900 MHz spectrum.
